SDC140: Vintage

France Papillion is our hostess this week and here's what her challenge to everyone is:

‘Hello lovely Stampotiquers,
Lots of us get so excited when we get our hands on an old ledger, old books, or old family photos even from people we don’t know. But those are often hard to come by, or very expensive.

Because of that, lots of us became very agile in making new things look old. Using inks, paper distressing tools and yummy techniques.

How about we combine all that love for all things vintage and all those yummy techniques with our favorite stamps, to create a vintage looking Stampotique piece?
Can’t wait to see where that leads you! Ready? Create!’

**Please read new rule instituted with this challenge-we will no longer be accepting digi stamp creations as part of our challenges.  Stampotique is a red rubber stamp company and we prefer to see creations with stamps versus those with digital creations.  These entries will be deleted and will not be eligible for the prize.  Thank you for understanding.**

IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Please read ALL RULES on the linkz page before linking your creation.
If you didn't follow the rules posted, you may have been deleted.
Feel free to relink your creation with the correct information for a chance to win.

*No digi stamp creations please*

SDC139: Masculine

One of our talented artists, R. Maria Sabina is our hostess this week:

''How many masculine cards did you make in the last month? I personally made zero cards. Masculine creations can be a real challenge. I challenge you to create something using the masculine theme. Keep the cuteness and bling away this time. Lock them in your drawer. Let's make men feel special at least once in a while with something made only for them''.

SDC138: Green

Hello there, Kristen here, and I am the host of this week’s Challenge.

I am a huge fan of using Primary colors in my projects, with Red being my favorite, but since it is March, and this month the month of the beginning of spring and St. Paddy’s Day. I am challenging you to use GREEN as the main color in your project.  I can’t wait to see what you create. Have fun and have a great week!

"I can't believe you thought to use real fronds for your tag!  Soft Spring colors make it perfect!"

"Leslie, this card is just priceless!  I can see the background embossing as well as the layers of papers--especially the pattered papers!

"I am so impressed by how many elements appear in the background, yet all these elements do not interfere with (but strongly support) the images in the foreground!

SDC February Winners-Update

Thank you to all that have pointed out an error with our random pick for the February winner, who had entered more than one challenge per week. We appreciate our fans pointing this out, we do make errors on occasion and did not pick up on her multiple entries at the time.

We have randomly drawn another winner of the $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps.

Congratulations to the winners of February's $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps at the Stampotique store:

SDC137: Textured Backgrounds

Kay Wallace is our hostess this week:

I am thrilled to be posting the challenge today!  That said, it is going to be a challenge with a bit of a twist.  This challenge is all about using texture in the background of your artful projects.  But, here’s the twist:  I am not challenging you to create a texture like mine, but challenging you to share with the rest of us through your art your “signature” or “go to” techniques for creating that texture in your backgrounds.  For example, Design Team member Coby vanWilligenburg has the ability to create amazing texture in a background by using Yupo (synthetic) paper and alcohol inks, yet her background remains as flat as a pancake!!  On the other hand, Design Team member Magda Polakow will create a textured background by building up many layers, yet it remains in the background and never overpowers her focal images.  So, share with us what YOU do to create that physical texture or just the appearance of it!  Above all, have fun!

SDC March Guest Designer

We want to say a huge thank you for Lisa Mason and Trish Lattimer for sharing their creativity with us throughout February-was great having them as part of the team for the month!

At Stampotique Designer's Challenge we are thrilled to announce the next guest designer for the month of March.  We welcome Amanda Southern and here is a little more about Amanda:

Hi My name is Amanda and I started crafting in 2009 where I just played about really, learning what it was I liked to create and how I liked to create it. On this journey of discovery I found the wonderful Stampotique stamps and inparticular the characters created by Daniel Torrente, I just fell in love with them and their versatility. I love trying out new techniques and mediums and my style I think is quite varied. Sometimes I like to create in a neat and precise way and then the next time I will splash and splat colour around with wild abandon. I am finding at the moment that I am drawn to playing a lot with a variety of paints and mediums that allow me freedom across a blank canvas. I start off with an idea in mind but somehow it never ends up that way which I think adds to the whole creative process. I also love getting my sewing machine out to add further texture to a project. I see my creativity constantly evolving with all the fabulous inspiration that I come across from the wonderfully talented people out there in Blogland.

When I am not crafting I’m probably working, as I work full time as a Retail Store Manager for a large blue chip retailer here in the UK, doing a job I love. I am always saying “There is never enough time” which means I thrive on the fact that I am never bored.

Make sure you check out Amanda's blog and welcome her, I've had a sneak at her first projects and they are magnificent!
